Meet our Personal Trainer Of The Day, Alex Honorato from Max Energy Fitness (http://www.maxenergy.com.au/). He shares his passion and tips (as well as his guilty pleasure!) Read the full interview below:
Tell us your story, who are you and how did you start in the health and fitness industry?
My Name Is Alex Honorato, I’ve been involved with sport since very young in age with competitive sports, martial arts, sprinter and swimming.
After serving in the Special Air Services overseas I moved to Australia in 1996. I started all up again with Fitness helping people achieving their goals.
What were some of the biggest mistakes you made when starting out in this industry?
I didn’t really have any mistakes when I started, I got to Australia and I knew what I had to do so I worked hard for it, I just wish I had the money to start quicker what I wanted to do.
What is the most absurd excuse you heard from a client and how did you respond to it?
People saying to me “I will get fitter first then I come to see you at the gym“
I keep saying to them the reason people come to see a trainer is so we can get you fit and strong and most important change your lifestyle so you can enjoy your life better than ever.
What makes your gym/fitness center different from others?
My Fitness Studio is the real deal, we’re not a people factory 24/7 with no staff, no programs and no one to help you when you need the most.
I still don’t understand why so quickly gyms are not about helping people. All you need is a big factory chuck equipment in there and charge ridiculous amounts of money for unsupervised gym.
But anyway, we at Maxenergy Fitness take care of our people as if they are our family, its hard to compete with the bigger money greedy chains but we’ve been doing it for a long time and as long as we look after our “Family” we will keep going stronger than never.
We offer programs and advice anytime, we go through nutrition, posture and help people through the worse times on they journey. We don’t have any show pony’s just real people want to achieve something with the help of a trainer.
What is your greatest guilty pleasure when it comes to food?
Ice cream is my worst enemy but I’m not perfect
What are some of your tips these coming holidays?
First enjoy your Christmas holidays with the ones you love the most, eat, drink and party like no tomorrow and relax. If you have a week off exercise is not the end of the world. Recharge then when the holiday finishes you can restart with new goals.
What are your goals or plans this coming 2015?
I want to refurbish my studio, and I want to help double of the people I helped this year.
