Strap safeties

I have a PR-5000 rack with the 41' crossmembers. In my opinion, there is too much slack in these straps. Since there is a fairly deep dip in the strap trajectory from upright to upright, it takes a lot of repositioning to create a taut system for its intended use. For example, if you want your safety to rest at hole 10, you will need to raise the other side of the strap pin to ~hole 15. And when doing this you also create a slope which, depending on your movement, can create a safety hazard. I've worked with a lot of strap safeties from other brands and haven't run into this problem as much. Overall, you can make them work and I think they have better utility for other aspects of weight lifting but if you're seeking standard safety measures for benching / squatting - I would upgrade to the flip-down safeties.

Strap is too low

While these are well made the attachment point of the strap is too low. Theres almost 3.5" of metal above the strap point that gets in the way of the rounded J cups when benching (at least for me, if you have long arms this probably wont be a problem for you). I cant set the strap high enough. If I raise the other side then the bar would just roll down and crush my face. These would be much more adaptable if the peg that goes into the rack was at the level of the strap and they removed that top 3" like how Sorinexs are.

So glad I got these with my rack

When I ordered the PR-4000 rack it comes standard with pin pipe safeties unless you upgrade to a different style. I upgraded to the strap safeties. I was so unsure of the strap safeties before the rack was delivered that I ended up ordering flip down safeties separately just in case. While I do like having both types of safeties available, I know now I would have done just fine with the strap safeties. They are easily adjustable, very strong and well made. I like that I can quickly unhook one side and leave the other side attached when I need the rack open all the way to the bottom. I also like that I can set each end of the strap at different levels so the barbell is forced away from me if need be. The stitching is great on these straps and overall they feel like they are high quality. I like the fact that I can do rack pulls or even fail a lift and drop the barbell on the straps and it won’t damage the barbell
