Meet Giselle Schroer – Health and Fitness Inspiration

We were lucky enough to get Giselle, an inspirational writer, mother and athlete, to agree to answer a couple of our questions. Find out where she get’s her inspiration and discover her top healthy recipes.

1. Your blog is an inspiration to others, what inspires you to keep fit and share your experiences with your readers?

Giselle Schroer

My main inspiration for maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle is my family. I want to live a long, healthy life and to show my children that it’s easy to do. I’m also inspired by the millions of people who have overcome some major hardships and found their way back to living a healthy life. If someone can beat cancer then run a marathon, I can make it to the gym a few times a week 🙂

2. You mention in your blog that you’ve always been fairly healthy, but made the decision to be even more so. What motivated you to take that step?

Yes, I’ve always lived a pretty healthy lifestyle. However, after having my son in 2011 I began to do more research about what we were eating and chose to clean up our diets even more. That along with the desire to model for my son what a healthy lifestyle looks like motivates me to stay active and healthy. Modeling is the best form of instruction for little ones so showing them what healthy eating looks like or how much fun fitness can be will be the building blocks for them in doing the same.

3. Your recipes look delicious and are quite accessible for your readers. Where do you look for new recipe ideas?

I’ve always loved cooking and baking. Some of my earliest and most favorite memories with my grandmother involve being in the kitchen. I love taking family favorite recipes and giving them a healthy spin. Other recipe inspiration comes from Pinterest, cooking magazines, favorite cookbooks or restaurant meals.

4. What’s your #1 fitness or personal inspiration tip?

One of my favourite fitness quotes is from General George S. Patton. It has gotten me through quite a few half marathon training runs and numerous brutal workouts. While it’s somewhat fitness related, I think it could definitely be directed in many forms of ones life.

"Now if you’re going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is tired morning, noon and night but the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. When you were younger, the mind could make you dance all night long, and the body was never tired… You’ve always got to make the mind take over and keep going."

George S. Patton, U.S.Army General and 1912 Olympian.

5. Which of your blog posts do you think everyone should read?

As a healthy living blogger a lot of my posts are food or nutrition driven. In the healthy living blogging community, there can be a lot of comparison between food, body image, health, etc. This post was a favorite of not only mine, but a lot of my readers as well.
