Bumper weight plates are designed to be extra durable for the repetitive strain caused by Olympic lifting. These are Chinese approved competition plates which are of excellent quality and can take a beating. These are a more affordable alternative to the IWF approved bumper weights mainly because they don't have the IWF licensing, which is a very costly procedure.
