Boxing Gloves

Boxing gloves are cushioned gloves that boxers wear during fights. They can also be used at training sessions. They protect the hands of the boxer from injury in the course of fighting. There are specialised boxing gloves that are used for practice and sparring only. Boxers wear the gloves over a hand warp for extra protection of the fingers. For practice, they are made of light materials such as leather mittens or vinyl so the boxer can comfortably punch boxing bags with them. Professional gloves are however less cushioned and can weigh as much as 10 ounces.

A lighter variant of the glove is the mitt. It is a glove without separate fingers and used in boxing practice to improve dexterity and abrasions from punching bags.
