Boxing balls sometimes referred to as speed balls are leather balls mounted on springs with fast reaction to motion. The boxer will hit the ball which swiftly swings back at him. The goal of the exercise is to swerve, punch back or dodge the ball as need be. The harder or swifter the balls are hit, the faster they rebound and the more diverse they rebound in different directions. The exercise is used by professional boxers and kick boxers to improve coordination.
